NTL World and Mail

Hi folks,

My friend has recently bought her first Mac, and is trying to set up  
her E-Mail. Basically, the SMTP server will not send her messages. She  
has tried ports 456,465 and 587. She is also using SSL. Her smpt is:  
smpt.ntlworld.com

Has anybody encountered problems with NTL and Mac Mail?
