Happy Birthday Triumph Technology and Handy Tech North America!
Triumph Technology, doing business as Handy Tech North America is
celebrating our third year in business and we owe it all to you!
Triumph
Technology originally opened for business on June 5, 2005 with the
slogan
"It's all about adapting!" At this time, assistive technology industry
veteran Earle Harrison was on a mission to start a company that
would not
only provide high quality products for people who are blind or have
low
vision, but provide a high standard of support for these products.
He hit
the ground running by becoming a GW Micro dealer and soon brought on
various
other products. Slowly, this small start-up company secured training
and
consulting contracts, mostly within Minnesota. In the end of 2005 we
became
national distributors of Code Factory mobile software solutions and
quickly
became known for our M-Pac bundle featuring Code Factory's Mobile
Speak
Pocket screen reader running on the Microsoft Windows Mobile Pocket PC
platform. We took great care in the customization of each device
that went
out the door as well as for the support for which we are to this day
still
known and our offerings now include Mobile Speak Smart Phone and
Mobile
Speak for Symbian devices as well.
In the summer of 2006 we met with Sigi Kipke, Owner and Acting
Director of
Handy Tech Elektronik GmbH of Horb Germany, to discuss the
possibility of
carrying the high quality line of Handy Tech Braille displays. A
non-exclusive contract was granted at this time. We were extremely
excited
about this new arrangement because we knew that, with Braille, the
user of
the mobile packs and cell phone bundles would have a well rounded
experience
not only with improving access to mainstream technologies, but would
do so
while promoting the very important cause of Braille literacy.
In January 2007 we became the exclusive North American distributor
for all
Handy Tech devices and changed our name to Handy Tech North America.
Since
then, we have established a North American dealer network for Handy
Tech and
Index Braille products, and on a regional level, have expanded our
offerings
to include products from AI Squared, ABISee, Serotek, Envision
America and
Nuance Technologies.
Our latest endeavor, customizing the Nokia N82 for customers
ordering the
K-NFB Reader Mobile, creates a fully functional mobile device with
access to
calendar appointments, contacts, the printed word, GPS technology
and much
more in a device small enough to fit in a shirt pocket.
The past three years have been filled with peaks and valleys, but
overall
have been very gratifying and the fact is we owe our success
entirely to our
customers and manufacturers of these life changing products. It is
with this
sentiment, that we invite you to visit our booth at the below summer
events
to realize huge savings on products such as the Nokia N82 mobile
phone, the
only device that currently supports the K-NFB Reader, Code Factory's
MobileSpeak screen readers for Symbian, Windows Mobile Smart Phone and
Pocket PC platforms, Nuance Technologies Talks screen reader, Way
Finder
Access GPS navigation software, Executive Products Cases for the N82,
Motorola Q 9C/HM and T-Mobile Dash and the full line of Handy Tech
and Index
Braille devices. Also, Handy Tech staff will be available to help
install
and configure supported mobile devices.
Reading in a Flash
People everywhere are reading in a flash with the new K-NFB Reader
Mobile
for people who are blind or have low vision and the K-Reader Mobile
for
people with information processing disabilities such as dyslexia.
Enjoy
access to print material anywhere, anytime with a device small
enough to fit
in your pocket or purse. This ground breaking innovation in image
capture
and read technology, is brought to you by Massachusetts based K-NFB
Reading
Technology and runs on a cell phone; however, many people choose to
only use
it as a reader. If you would like to activate the features of the
phone, add
your choice of the MobileSpeak or Talks screen reader and gain
access to
calendar appointments, contacts, call logs, note taking, text
messaging,
e-mail, the web and much more. Add Way Finder Access GPS navigation
software
to the same device, and enjoy the ability to explore your surroundings
without ever having to load maps, or become the navigator for your
co-workers, classmates and friends who drive. Further accessorize by
adding
a Bluetooth wireless keyboard or headset to your order.
Handy Tech Devices Supported by Apple Computers
Imagine the ability to walk up to 1 of literally millions of Apple
computers, plug in your Handy Tech Braille display and immediately
get crisp
grade two Braille output. You don't need to imagine it because
support for
Apple is better than ever in OSX 10.5!
The free exchange of information between Handy Tech and Apple
computers
represents a significant advance in providing high quality Braille
access to
literally millions of computers.
"I couldn't believe how easy it was to independently go through the
set-up
of my Mac Book Pro without any sighted assistance right out of the
box,"
says Handy Tech President and Founder Earle Harrison "coming from the
Windows side, I found myself faced with what I thought was a pretty
steep
learning curve in the beginning, but soon found out that once I
understood
how one program worked, all the other programs pretty much worked
the same
way. My hat is off to Apple computer for not only providing access
to OSX
10.5, but for making it possible for blind and low vision people to
set-up a
new computer right out of the box without any sighted assistance."
Be sure to stop by the Handy Tech booth at several of this year's
summer
events to see how Handy Tech North America is, in partnership with
Apple
computers, living up to their slogan "It's all about adapting!"
