Funny. I just sent in my iMac for this exact same repair. I suspect
you will not see any CD Burner listed in system profiler. If you
don't that's the last straw before sending it to the repair shop.

none of these things worked at all. i called apple twice to get a
second opinion and both people came to the same conclusion. their's
something wrong with the drive itself.

TK: I usually use the left button but if Larry says he uses the
right and it works as well then it appears that you can use either.

SOUNDING, HOLD DOWN YOUR MOUSE BUTTON. KEEP HOLDING IT DOWN UNTIL
THE DVD EJECTS. THAT SHOULD DO IT UNLESS THERE'S SOMETHING WRONG
WITH THE MECHANISM.
