Shane,
Are you using the shutdown menu to close down your Mac?

Hi, Darcy. No, that is the strange thing. I have next to nothing
starting at start-up. This is the exact thing that happened with my
first MacBook, and it is very inconsistent. It happens just when
you don't want it too. Sometimes, it takes a minute to boot up and
all is well. Very mysterious.

Hi Shane. It's not normal for it to take that long to boot. I
would say that at most mine takes a minute to get to the login
screen, and then perhapse another 30 seconds once I've put in my
password. Do you have a lot of things starting at log on?

Hello. I have serious issues with boot up in Leopard. It
sometimes takes upwards of ten minutes for the MacBook to reboot.
I know this is not a MacBook issues, as this is my second one from
our local Apple store. They replaced my first one about four
months ago, and this is the upgraded MacBook. Same problem.
Sometimes, it boots up just fine, and other times, it takes quite
a while. This is quite annoying, and something really should be
done about it.

iTunes 7.7 installed badly over here. Get through the double
license process once after authentication and again when the
software runs for the first time. I had already configured the
last version of iTunes and had answered all of the questions
especially the one for what to name the library. So after the
second license agreement, iTunes 7.7 asks me what to name the
library. I hit escape then turned the computer off with the
power button and then restarted and ran disk utility and repaired
permissions on the disk then ran iTunes 7.7 again and this time
was rewarded with yet another blank screen and the menus could
not be brought up. So I shut the computer down a second time
with the power button and in a while I'll run disk utility again
and repair permissions again. Maybe iTunes will do something like
pretend to work. Leopard, I've had underpowered windows systems
boot up faster; this one ought to have been called lazy cat or
fat cat or dead cat rather than leopard. I had tiger earlier and
am considering upgrading to Tiger too unless much starts
improving shortly. Boot up times are routinely without any disk
problems on the order of 10 minutes to give you an idea.
