Hello all.
This iTools utility sounds interesting, but I fear I'm a little
confused. I understand why certain disk operations need to be
performed from time to time, but aren't other maintenance functions
performed by the crontab daemon? I realize that not everyone keeps
their computers on 24 hours a day and that the operations appear to
perform at odd times when it is considered a person wouldn't be using
their computer. Maybe I need to get this iTools utility instead of
asking questions. :-)
Best regards,
-Jason

Hi,
Itools has a tab based menu and you can make your selections of what
maintenance activities you want the application to perform. It is
really a GUI app that runs the many Unix Terminal scripts and
commands but you don't need to really know how to run them yourself.
I might also say that this program is really accessible with VO and
the menus are really nice and clean.
If you ever used Onyx, another system maintenance application, you
will really see the difference.

Hello jeffrey,
Hey, thanks for posting the discovery of the itools utility. I
actually like it much better than Onyx.
Thanks.

Hi listers, i found this on apple's download site. This system
utility is called itool and its free. It works a lot like onyx
with a few improvements. When you bring up the program if you
hit tab you find an automate button. This repairs permissions,
runs daily/ weekly/monthly scripts and empties caches. It does
it a lot faster than onyx and with no wierd messages about
being unable to repair permissions because a file has changed.
And its accessible with voiceover.
Enjoy, Jeff Greene
