final ubuntu issues then leaving it

                hi

1. i boot from the cd, nothing happens
even hen i press alt f2 equivalent on the mac and type orca, nothing

so i try in fusion

2. I run the install or what i think is the install
nothing
do option f2 type orca enter, yes get speech but it is only to set up  
orca
all this f five for a menu and orca is number 3 does nothing. has  
anyone else got linux ubuntu 8.04 to install under fusion?
i was asked which orca voice do i want and had heaps of languages but  
that's it
