Dear Richie,
I don't know whether what I'm gonna say is going to help but if you
open the message by pressing enter on it, you can then vo left arrow
to the from and date field. I then interact with that section to get
more detailed information. When you come across the address of the
sender, VO says the address followed by menu button. Just VO+spacebar
on this and you get a choice of copying the addres, or adding it to
your addressbook or creating a reply message.
