Hello,
You can highlight and remove portions of recordings, by using Command Shift while listening to a file. For example, if I want to remove a bit from the start of the track, I use the Goto Beginning then I hold down Command and Shift and press Space. When the track gets to where I want to stop the cut, I release Command and Shift. Then I use Command X to cut. Then I goto the Edit menu and hit the Unsellect None. Then I do a save. I am still learning how to do the different editing operations. My next thing to try is Pasting material into a track.

Thanks Dan.

He has a live recording and he wants to trim out the talking at the beginnings and ends of songs. Oh, and he needs to make track marks too. So can Quicktime Pro also be used to cut a long track up into smaller tracks, using in and out points?

Hello,
You can do basic editing such as cut and past. Even though QuickTime
says Movie, it will still do audio.
For a new movie the command is Command Option M. for audio the command is Command Option Control M. You will need to do VO keys Tab to ignore
the next key stroke and then do the Command Option Control M to
activate the Audio recording function. Then for either a Movie or
Audio recording when ready to start the actual recording press the
Spacebar. You can then press the Spacebar again to stop the recording.
Tab will move you through some of the buttons like Play/Pause,
FastForward or FastRewind or Goto End and GoTo Beginning.

Has anyone edited with Quicktime Pro? Felix says when he tries to
use it, he gets the movie editor. Is that all it does? We thought
it could be used to edit music files as well.

His friend told him to try Fission. I recall a thread on this not
too many days ago. Now I don't have those mesasages anymore! I had
no idea I'd be needing them, oops.
