Normally, you should not have to use the jump command to read the
message though. When I press enter, the message opens and voice over
begins reading. You might try disabling the message preview. To do
that, place the voice over cursor on the item that is called vertical
splitter. Then press control option shift space twice quickly to do a
double click. That should disable the message preview, you can then
press enter to open the message.

hey John,
yay, a mac newbie!!! this does my heart good, lol. I hope you're
enjoying it!!! I remember when I'd just had mine for a day, I was
sitting in my parents' cabin listening to voiceover manuals and
trying to cram commands into my brain, lol. it was fun, I love
challenges like that!!!
anyway, with IChat, I find adium works better. I've never actually
tried IChat, but adium works really well. you can get it from www.adiumx.com
and it's cool cuz if you have multiple messenger accounts, you can
set them all up in there and you'll see them all at once. I have my
aim, msn and facebook all in there. it doesn't read messages
automaticly either, but it definitely reads the whole message
instead of just the last few lines.
to get a message to read automaticly in mail, press control options
j on it. VO will start reading it automaticly. when you're finished,
you can press command r to reply, or control option j again to get
back into your messages table to look through the rest of your
messages.

Hi all,
I just got my macbook yesterday, and I have a few questions.
Ichat:
For some reason, if I write a message that spans multiple lines,
voiceover only reads the last few words of the message when I send
it. Additionally it does not read any incoming messages from my
buddies. Since this is not happening automatically, what
preferences should I modify in Ichat to fix this?
mail:
There is a slight problem I'm having with mail. When I press enter
on a message in my inbox, it is not read automatically. I have to
hit tab a time or two before the contents is read. How can I fix
this? I already hid the toolbar.
Any help you can offer is greatly appreciated. I'm really liking
the mac so far!
Thanks in advance,
