I have an old Index Braille Everest which I had bought in 2000. It has
a choice of either parallel or serial connection. With the help of
Greg Kearney on this list, I have been able to make it work with Mac
by purchasing Keysoft USB serial port converter. There's also Louis
which is an application translating print files into braille files and
sending them to an embosser. I don't know enough about Mounbatten Pro
or whether it has a serial connection option. I seem to think from
what Greg was telling me that you would need a serial port on a
printer to make it work or else get a printer that has a USB
connection. I think Greg Kearney is the person to discuss it with. He
has a great knowledge of embossers and the process involved. Hope this
helps.
With best wishes
Simon

Has anybody used the Mountbatten Pro with the Mac? I may get one,
and I need to know what I need to do to get it to work as an
embosser. Is there Braille translation software, and if there is, is
there Mountbatten support? I know I'll need a parallel to USB
converter, if such a thing exists. What do you guys think? Should I
get one of these? If not, what embosser do you recommend? Thanks.
