Hi, the only thing you might need windows for in this list is quicken. I don't know if there is a quicken for mac or how accessible it is, but you could google it and if there is a mac version you could demo it once you have yur mini.

Windows programs do not work on a mac... Period. Fortunately there are software writen for mac to acomplish the computing chores you did under windows and in many cases the software is perfectly accessible, or at least useable to a degree. There is a very extensive list of Voiceover compadible mac software. I don't have the exact URL handy, but if you google voiceover compadibility list you will get it. It's a bit querky, but will give you a very good idea what yu can expect from third party functionality.

Best,

Hello,

I'm entirely new to the MAC system, have read numerous exciting articles about Apple's new platforms, and will probably be purchasing a MAC Mini within a couple of months. What I can't find is an answer to the following, and maybe some of you can help, or point me to previous posts which might: will most currently available programs and software run on the MAC without the necessity of installing Windows on the unit? I have a real love affair going with the Victor Reader Stream, book port, Audible.com, Bookshare, Quicken, and others, and also utilize an array of plug-and-play jump drives and memory sticks during the course of a day. Given this profile, what are my chances of switching to the MAC environment more-or-less painlessly? If a gap does exist, will a Windows installation fix it, or are there less costly ways of getting the job done?

So sorry to cover ground which must certainly have been covered here in the past, but your input will impact my decision in a major way. If you can help by supplying websites or other imperical data, it will assist me in doing my homework for sure.

Thanks in advance,
Dave Bennett
