Only having the keyboard input shortcut to assign the next language is fine as long as you only have two or three input languages, but I think Simon wants to use a few more (such as Polish and Welsh). Then, having a shortcut to get to the previous language is useful.

In Leopard, it seems you can only have one input source in all documents (at least using the shortcut keys and not by changing the language input from the menu bar). In Tiger, I can open different TextEdit windows, for example, and use option-space to cycle them to a different language. Option-Shift-Space will change me back to the previous input language for that window. If I use Option-Space to change this, I have to keep count of my different input menus and where I am in the cycle.

I'm not sure how that "one input source in all documents" works under Leopard.

Cheers,

Esther
