So, even though I have gmail as my mail client, I need the outgoing
server to be SMTP.comcast.net, and the port to be 587? Am I correct?
Thanks, Olivia

Go to mail preferences and change the SMTP port to 587.
To do that, go into preferences, and tab to it says your SMTP server
in a popup. Think it's in general. In that popup, there'll be an
edit serverlist... option. Go in there and change the port to 587.

Interesting. My parents have comcast as their ISP, and I am always
unable to send email from my gmail account when I am at their house.
What do I need to do to send gmail with comcast?

I got it resolved. Apparently comcast is blocking port 25 for
sending email instead you have to use 857.

Very strange. My gmail accounts are working fine with mail.
As far as I know, google hasn't changed anything.
Good luck getting the problem resolved!

Hi all,
Well, it's become apparent that there is now something wrong
with my
Mail program. Does any GMail user know of Google changed the way
in
which mail sets up google mail accounts? Because I can still not
send,
and on my laptop it works. And it's not like I did anything, it
obruptly happened.
Thanks.
