Hi All,
I've retitled the subject line to expand the topic of this post to
other players. XNJB is program that supports use of non-iPod players
on the Mac and transfer of music. It was originally written as a way
to support the Creative Nomad line of players under Mac OS X, but has
since been extended to other players like Mike's Dell DJ. (I think
the initials represent "X" for Mac OS X, "N" for Nomad, and "J" and
"B" for jukebox.) The program is written in Cocoa, and provides an
accessible interface. It has been mentioned previously a few times on
this list. I don't think this works directly with music purchased
from the Apple Store (even non-DRM tracks) unless the player supports
Apple's AAC format, but should be fine for mp3 files and mp3
podcasts, as well as tracks that you've re-encoded as mp3 files. At
present, it also doesn't support Audible audiobook files, either.
Just as a comment in view of recent threads about Audible audiobooks,
some Creative players (Zen Nano, Zen Nano Plus, MuVo players, Zen
Neon, Zen Stone Plus) may show up as devices the in iTunes source
list (as iPods do). These players support the USB mass storage
device protocol, so when connected they show up in Finder the way
that USB memory sticks and other external storage devices do. Music
tracks can be transferred to those devices by just copying files to
the player. For Audible content, it should be possible to just
transfer files to players that support Audible files (without using
XNJB), and have them play provided that the player is authorized
(which you'd probably have to do under Windows). However, if you
already have an Audible account and supported authorized player that
you used under Windows, and it's one of the latter types of Creative
players that support USB mass storage, you can probably continue to
use it with iTunes on the Mac.
Cheers,
Esther

hey all;
ok so me and sabrina were wanting to transfer some music from my
computer to her dell dj. I wanted to do this all by my self but
couldn't figure out what i should have had to do. Itunes didn't
pick up dell dj, but google helped me.
Introducing to you all the program that's accessible. The one
program that appears to be able to handle dell dj's, i bring you XNJB
http://www.wentnet.com/projects/xnjb/download.html
very self explanatory, but I'm going to work on a podcast this
weekend showing it to you. Plug your dj in, open the app, vo to
"connect" and hit connect. then in the "table" will be the songs on
your dj (or any other supported devise). Then there is a browser
that you can use and here's what you do. Find a folder or file
(highlight it in the browser) stop interacting with the browser and
then vo to the "upload" button. Press it and wait for it to do it's
stuff.
Have something on your dell dj that your not sure how your going to
get to your mac? Curious as to what a song on a friend's dj sounds
like? Well find the song in the songs table, navigate in the
internal browser where you want to put the song from the devise to,
and simply hit "download" and there you go.
Note: if you highlight a folder in the browser and hit "upload" the
entire and all sub folders will be sent to your devise. Right to
the left of the connect button will be (the first number is total
used space, second number is space on the devise remaining.)
One more thing, it's open source.
anyways hope this helps someone
