That is what I suspected and I'll have to contact Verizon to get more info.

This must be a server issue because when I delete mail from the server, it

Subject: question on mail accounts

Folks, not a VO question, but I'm hoping someone will have an answer.

I've noticed this and my friend recently got a Macbook. We both have
Verizon e-mail accounts and both of us have setup the accounts such
that once the mail is popped from the server, it should be deleted.
Now I've noticed that when I was running two versions of Mail for
testing, I'd get the mail I thought was already deleted. TO add to
this thought, he setup an account for his wife on their Macbook and
again, she previously had been using outlook and had it set to delete
the mail after it was popped. However, Apple Mail downloaded over 1500
messages that should actually have been already deleted.
So, the question is, this. Is this a Verizon issue not allowing their
server to honor the mail clients setting or is there something else
going on here? If this didn't make sense, please let me know and I'll
try to explain things differently.

tnx
