Guys,

I am totally! at a loss.

I have a power Mac G4, running Tiger O S 10.4.11.

Because the mike jack on the logic board has no pre amp built into it, I am using my Logitech U S B headset.

I tried to record both my system audio, as well as my mike at the same time, as I wanted to make a friend a demo of how a few programs worked on the Mac with Voice Over. Well, this is when all hell froze over.

I installed audio Hi Jack, and licensed it with my key. OK, that worked fine.

I then went and tried to create a new session for system audio. I installed both instant Hijack, and also the Sound Flower Driver. I then logged out and back in, as it requested. I then reopened audio Hijack, and went to the default audio session, which was already in the component list. I set that up by saying silence audio. Now you need to understand, before I go any further. I had in system preferences, in Tiger, not in AHJ, but in Tiger itself, I have it set where the default output is head phones, as I have my head phone jack on the tower set where my pc speakers are running through it. So that's all good. then in system prefs, I have it set, where the Logitech USB head set is the default input device, and it's turned up to about 80 percent on the input. If I use audasity or the like, my mike records perfectly. It even sounds flawless in Skype, so I know for a fact the mike does work. Now I present you with the few senarios in Hijack that I did.

In the default input session, under audio output, I set that to silence audio. I did that as while recording, I really didn't wanna hear my mike echoing back to myself, and not only that, but being that my head phones are on that head set which is u s b, If I set the mike to default output, it would go through my speakers since they're seen as another audio output device, quite obviously. Well, I have to hear my speech, which would mean the speakers would have to be turned up, which means, ear screeching feedback from the mike. So yeah, that's why I said ni madres! I am so! not doing that if I can help it. So that's why I set that to silence audio on the output of the default audio session.

OK, so, all's good there. So I set that, then I went to system audio, and hijacked it.

I then went back to default input, and secondly hijacked that as well. Then, I went back to system audio, and hit record.

Well, that sure as heck worked for getting the voice over speech, however I couldn't hear my mike at all.

So, then, I went and only hijacked system audio, then while still on system audio, hit record. Again, no mike, only speech.

Thirdly, I then only hijacked default input, and hit record. Sure enough, my mike recorded, but no speech.

That's kind a what I had suspected being I didn't have system audio hijacked too.

So then I did the first senario again, only backwards.

This time, instead of firstly highjacking system audio, I high jacked default audio first, then I did system audio. Then while still on system audio, i hit record. Again, it did no good. That again, gave me speech, no mike.

So then, I hijacked the mike, then highjacked system audio, went back to the audio default input, and hit record on that session. Looky do: I got mike, no speech.

I then came to a theory of, well? wait a minute. Maybe I need to set the mike to actually not be silenced as if it's silenced then there is no monitoring output for system audio to capture. So, What I did, so I'd still hear speech but get no feedback, is, I went in tiger to system prefs, and switched it so that my default output no longer was headphones, but now was Logitech USB headset. So now, my sound came through my headset instead of the speakers. OK, mission there accomplished. Now I went back to AHJ, and did all the exact same senarioes as above. I got the exact same results.

I wonder if after hijacking system audio, then the mike, then recording on system audio, I wonder if then I gotta go back to default input, and vo over to the mute button, and vo space on it. I wonder if the Mike may a been muted. I don't think so though, as I could hear it through my head phones, as I spoke, coming back to me.

Yeah, I did buy this to record skype calls and such which does work very very well over here, however the main reason I bought this thing was to do speech and mike at the same time so I could make audio tutorials. Well, that's just not happenin. Please, I earnestly beg of anyone who successfully has gotten Hijack Pro to work with speech and mike at the same time, and come on, I know it can be done, as I know summa you who've done it. If one of yall could call me and let's try to work together through this and see if we can't get to the bottom a this. I gotta lotta recordings I've promised people but no way a doing them. Plus more importantly, I don't wanna have waisted my money. I wrote tech support, but they've not gotten back with me, and this is about the third time I've written them. Not saying they're not responsive, only saying from my experience alone, they've not gotten back. Anyway, if we must do e-mail and not phone, then be sure you are explicitly clear, on every little detail as nitty gritty as you can be to make this work. If you don't know for sure what the deal is but have a few theories a things we can try, even if you just write me and say, ok, Chris, try this for me and tell me what it does. I'm opened to try anything. I wanna do the phone as that way you can interactively guide me on what to do, but if you can't do phone, then so be it. It is my preference though.

I normally don't give out my number, and I know this probably will go to the list archives, but, you know, it's fine, really. I don't have a problem with it. If someone calls and harasses me, not that yall will, but if it happens, it happens. Lotta you may feel different bout that, but I'm not hear to argue. I say: it's fine. Just call me. I really don't care.

Thank you.

Chris.
