There is a very useful Mac site called: http://www.macrumors.com/
They have a buyer's guide section that tracks the last release of
iPods, Macs etc, with data bout the average time it takes Apple to
update a particular line, with info about if it's a good time to buy
a particular product.
In a nutshell, it's not a good time to buy an iPod. September 9 is
the update date.

I didn't realize they were already releasing a new line of ipods.
The classic hasn't been out that long, right? I just hope they don't
do away with the click wheel and make every model like the touch. I
would be interested in hearing what the new line is like if anyone
ends up purchasing one of the new ipods.
