It depends on what you're getting. A wireless router would easily connect both your MacBook and your Windows desktop. The verizon choice you mentioned previously is really something up to you: basically, is your current connection good enough? Can you use the mobile connection wherever you're planning on using it? Are you going to be mobile often enough to use it? And how much are you going to use, because Verizon definitely does not have an unlimited data plan. If you're not going to be mobile enough and you plan on downloading any significant amount (think more than a couple gigabytes a month), it's better not to go with Verizon. Also if the idea of mobile broadband for your laptop is appealing, and you have a smartphone with an existing data plan, why not just look into paying a little extra for that to get a tethering plan so you can use the connection from your laptop sporadically when necessary?
