Hi Olivia,
Here's a recommendation for a test case. After you have installed
iTunes 8, bring it up and select iTunes Store in the Source list.
Stop interacting and VO-right arrow. You'll hit the splitter, then the
buttons for iTunes Store previous page, iTunes Store next page, and
iTunes Store Home. (You should actually be at the iTunes Store Home
page when you start, but you might not be if you used my previous
directions for power search browsing of iTunes U content). Press the
iTunes Store Home button (VO-space) just in case. Then continue to VO-
right until you hear "iTunes Store HTML content" and interact. Use
the item chooser menu (VO-keys+I) and look for "FREE on iTunes heading
level 2". Select that (VO-space) and press the link (another VO-
space). Choose one of the songs, TV episodes, book excerpts, or
movies there for you first "purchase". This is basically a purchase
for $0.00 on a regular iTunes account, where you should go through all
the regular setup, but won't be charged for your "purchase". Just a
suggestion.
Cheers,
Esther

I will let you know how creating a new account goes. Thanks for the

Hi Olivia,
Download iTunes 8 directly from:
http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
You should be able to create a new account accessibly, but it would
be great if someone who doesn't already have an account can try
this. I'm able to review my existing account information now
within the iTunes Store -- where before we used to hear "iTunes
Store dimmed image" when navigating.
As I mentioned in an earlier post, when do the installation from
the download there is one place where the agreement is displayed
where you can't interact with the text that you tab to. But there
are buttons that allow you to either save or print the agreement.
If you press one of those buttons, you can save the iTunes Software
License.rtf file onto your machine, and read it in TextEdit.
Alternatively, you could choose the print button and send the
output to Preview and view the agreement that way. Then you can go
ahead and press the "Agree" button and continue with the install of
iTunes 8.
Cheers,
Esther

I have an apple ID, but no itunes account. Do I have this right?
I can now create my own account once I figure out how to get
itunes 8?

Chris,
The first time I brought up iTunes 8 and tried this I wasn't sure
it had been fixed. Try doing a VO-right from the source list
past the splitter. Now I get "Previous iTunes Store Page", "Next
iTunes Store Page", and "Home". When I press the "Home" button
I'm taken to the main page and can navigate through all the icons.
If that doesn't work, check that you meet the processor, memory,
and software specs. Some of those specs are only for playing
high definition movies. Also, make sure that you had the latest
version of QuickTime, etc. installed beforehand and matched all
the requirements for the iTunes 8 installation before you did it.

Erm, I don't mean to bust yul bubble, but unless the store only
works now in Leopard, I must say, it don't work. I just tried
navigating around the screen in ITunes 8 and reviewing my
account settings to set the store up myself, and it isn't
letting me see that window.
So, sorry. Isn't working here, unless you know something I don't.
Chris.
