Hi,

I'm pasting in a copy of the instructions for searching for "Free" content. The simple summary is: just make sure that you're starting from the iTunes Home page (Command-Shift-H will take you to the iTunes Store home page). Then use either the link chooser menu or item chooser menu to look for "Free". Details given below your post.

Cheers,

Esther

Hey Esther, there was a way to access free content and I think it was you saying something about heading level two. Of course I've now forgotten so if you wouldn't mind letting me know how one can locate some of this so I can do some experiements and figure this new iTunes out, it would be appreciated.

Here's a recommendation for a test case. After you have installed iTunes 8, bring it up and select iTunes Store in the Source list. Stop interacting and VO-right arrow. You'll hit the splitter, then the buttons for iTunes Store previous page, iTunes Store next page, and iTunes Store Home. (You should actually be at the iTunes Store Home page when you start, but you might not be if you used my previous directions for power search browsing of iTunes U content). Press the iTunes Store Home button (VO-space) just in case. Then continue to VO-right until you hear "iTunes Store HTML content" and interact. Use the item chooser menu (VO-keys+I) and look for "FREE on iTunes heading level 2". Select that (VO-space) and press the link (another VO-space). Choose one of the songs, TV episodes, book excerpts, or movies there for you first "purchase". This is basically a purchase for $0.00 on a regular iTunes account, where you should go through all the regular setup, but won't be charged for your "purchase".
