Hi Holly,

You realize that you're making me download more stuff from the iTunes Store just to answer your questions, don't you <smile>? Download information no longer seems to show up in the player status area. (This is the area of the iTunes app that you reach by doing a VO-Up Arrow twice from your library's songs table to display title of currently playing/paused track and it's elapsed time.) You still get the information about the number of tracks being downloaded if you have selected "Downloads" in the source table, and now when you VO- right arrow from the source table after you stop interacting you'll reach buttons for "Pause Download" and "Resume Download (dimmed)" as long as the download is proceeding. However, you no longer get progress bar information in the player status window. If you choose the target library for the downloaded content in the source table of iTunes, then you also get information that the download is proceeding. I've only tried this with TV shows (in the Free section) so I would have enough time to track signs of a download.

The other thing that is really different is that the podcast preferences for how frequently to check the feed are no longer in the iTunes preferences menu. Instead, when you select a podcast subscription in the Songs table and VO-right arrow there are now buttons for "Unsubscribe", "Settings", and "Refresh". The "Settings" popup button lets you specify your podcast subscription preferences for each subscription. You can either use default subscription settings, or separately configure how often you want to check the feed and what rules you want to maintain for keeping the podcasts.

Cheers,

Esther

Hi all. I'm still riding high after yesterday's event. Isn't it awesome, itunes store and talking ipods. really beyond what I expected in my wildest dreams. Anyway, I noticed that the downloads window in itunes 8 still doesn't show any information. I wonder if this was overlooked, or is there just something I'm missing. Has anyone else gotten it to work? A tiny thing, but I was just curious.
