Hi Olivia,

I gave instructions yesterday on how to run power searches for ALL content in the iTunes Store, including iTunes U. I won't repeat the detailed information, but if you start at the iTunes Home page (which you can always reach with the Command-Shift-H shortcut) and look for "Power Search" in either the Item Chooser or Links Chooser menus, you'll be taken to a search template with text field entries and popup buttons. This is all accessible so the list of every available search category and the option fields and check boxes that was included in that post is probably not needed.

If you run power searches you'll get results in both the iTunes Store HTML area and text listings in the Songs List. However, there are a lot of neat options for refining your search in the HTML area that you can use -- like finding results grouped by the kind of production (podcast, music video, audiobook, etc.), album groupings, dfferent artists or series, etc.

The other way you can find content is simply by going to the links to iTunes U, or podcasts, or movies, etc. (all the other categories listed in my post of yesterday) from the iTunes home page and browse the pages for each of those categories. The category page at the iTunes Store will periodically change to highlight different featured content, or give you a snapshot of the most populat selections.

Here's the link to yesterday's post about power searching in the iTunes Store with iTunes 8:

how did you get to Itunes U?
I can interact with the store, but can't figure out how to get to Itunes U let alone search it.
Any help you can give would be appreciated!

Finally, after attempting to download iTunes 8 via the software update, I managed to download it from the site--I have the .dmg file for those who want.

Anyway, I just got it up and running and did a search of iTunes U and oh, I was so happy! History! All kinds of stuff! I just grabbed a bunch of free stuff. Very nice! So this means that if I can do that, naybe come Christmas time, I can actually spend one of those gift cards, provided I have the code or whatever, and buy some albums for myself. Oh, I can't wait! But right now, I'll take fuller advantage of finding just what I am looking for--it's very easy to get around even if I don't use all the shortcuts. I just have to restrain from tabbing around in the HTML field like I am used to doing, because that takes you away form the page. Still though, I like it. Apple ought to be commended for finaly coming through with a product that at first gblance, appears to work very well indeed.
