HI again Esther.

did you say when your charging the 4g ipod, it says charging?

I assume you have to access the menus to hear this?

Hi Esther

Thanks for the info on the menus and such.

I did make a few typos about the interacting sequence (left out the "Shift" in VO-Shift-Down Arrow) in my instructions. However, I wanted to mention that the reason you may find the touch wheel action a little tricky is that it's used for multiple purposes (like volume adjustment and "scrubbing" for fast navigation within your track). What sometimes throws people the first time is the fact that if you don't do anything for a while (5 seconds?) with your click wheel adjustments, the iPod reverts back to normal play mode.

On the 4G iPod for a song, moving your finger around the wheel controls volume (clockwise finger motion around the wheel increases, counterclockwise decreases). Clicking the center wheel puts you in "scrub" mode where you can quickly change your place on a track. Audiobooks from Audible and the iTunes store also have "chapter" mode, so clicking the center button on those tracks will let you scroll through the "chapter markers" ('Chapter 1, Chapter 2, etc.) (These don't have to correspond to the actual chapter numbers of the book, they're simply divisions that could be one or more chapters. And if the book is divided into parts, the second part's chapter numbers will still start at "1"). When an audiobooks is playing, you can either move foward or back by "clicking" the forward (right) side of the wheel or back by chapter by clicking the backward (left) side of the wheel. If you hold down these (right or left) sides of the wheel, it's like holding down fast forward or rewind on a tope player. And if you want to move really fast forward or back through the entire book, you "scrub" by clicking the center of the wheel and moving your finger quickly several turns clockwise (ahead) or counterclockwise (back) on the wheel. (You won't here the clicks, but when you stop "scrubbing" your play will start up in the new "scrubbed" location). Other clicks of the center of the wheel allow you to rate the song (up to 5, increasing number clockwise, decreasing counterclockwise)

On songs, the final click of the center wheel lets you select shuffle mode (On/Off, shuffle by songs, or by album -- all announced as you move around the wheel).

This is actually easier to explain if you've used a nano or other click-wheel iPod before.

Cheers,

Esther
