Hello; thanks I tried adding aol contacts just like you said, but for
some reason I could only use them until I closed ichat. The next time
I opened ichat, I'd have to add them again. Don't have a lot of
friends I chat with so not a big deal, but frustrating none the less.
My additional problem is that you can't add yahoo or msn messenger
contacts to it. A couple of people have been nice enough to suggest
adium, and I'm trying it. I have it set up and I'm waiting on my
first chat session to see how well I like it. Since I need to be able
to chat and sometimes audio or video conference for business purposes,
its important that I be able to enter contacts from a wide variety of
email providers. Thanks again, Max

I don't understand the difficulty in adding contacts to Ichat. You
just hit the add a buddy or group button. As far as adding your AOL
buddies go, just add their screen names. Their screen names are
just the first part of their email address, in other-words, if my
email address were [EMAIL PROTECTED] and you wished to add me as an
aol buddy you would add me as timgrady . As far as Yahoo contacts
and MSN contacts go, no, Ichat doesn't support them, and if you need
to supports those contacts then you should use Adium to support
those contacts and any other messenger contacts that Ichat doesn't
support, but since you can only text chat with Adium I can't really
see why you would want to not use Ichat for the accounts it does
support.

Hello; I've been having trouble trying to use instant messaging.
It seams that ichat was easier to use in tiger than it is in
leopard. Its frustrating that I can't add my yahoo friends to it.
Its also agrivating that even my aol friends can't be added unless
they have an aim account. Is there something I'm missing as far as
adding buddies. I've read the help files, but nothing seams to
click in my mind. Then there is yahoo messenger. It seams a
little more accessible, but it isn't easy to add contacts that
aren't yahoo addresses. Is there an accessible messenger client
that will allow me to have all of my contacts in one place? I'll
appreciate any help any of you can give me here. Also, if any of
you have any tricks for using skype, please email me as well. I
really want to be able to send and receive texts as well as make
calls over the internet like lots of people do now days. Take care
and thanks again, Max
