Thank you ester for your advice. I'll attempt to do some research on this. I think there is a way to access the IPod as a disc which would in theory allow me to reimport my media back in to a new ITunes library.

Hi Dave,

First of all, do NOT try to sync your iPod Nano again with your iTunes library. The way to override autosync to the library that your iPod is set up to sync with is (on a Mac) to hold down the Command and Option keys (and keep holding them down!) while the device connects. On a Windows machine you hold down the Shift and Control keys while you are connecting the device to your computer to override the automatic sync.

There are third party solutions to restore music from the iPod, but I've personally never used them. Do you have any kind of backup -- maybe through Time Machine? The iPod was not designed to easily transfer music back to your computer (except now, for tracks you have purchased from the iTunes Store). I think this was mainly a requirement from the RIAA and the music industry, who were worried about piracy.

Maybe some other list members can offer advice here?

Cheers,

Esther

Good afternoon all,
So I've been playing with my new Ipod Nano for a while now and definitely love the device. I'm also in the process of learning how to use a Mac as well which is sort of double the fun. Just recently, I managed to delete my iTunes folder, which means that I no longer have an ITunes library. I'm wondering if you all know of a way for me to sync my IPod with my new ITunes library in order to get the songs I lost when I accidentally deleted my old library? Any help would be much appreciated. Also, on a side note, have you all noticed any major changes with the ITunes update? I'm just wondering if it is worth it to update. I don't really want to fix something that is not yet broken.
