TK: I tried this on my MacBook and it worked just fine. Granted it
was not a Vista shared volume but I can't see that it would make any
difference. What I did was connect to the shared volume, and then
from within iTunes, went under the File menu and chose Add to
Library. I then selected the folder I wished to add to my Library and
it brought the songs over just like that. Just as n extra note, I
did this wirelessly. I see no problem with using this method.
