Well not sure about others here, but my Mac doesn't take anywhere near five minutes to boot. It takes maybe 45 seconds, tops, and that's only after an unclean shutdown. It's normally somewhere between 15 to 25 seconds until it's booted up and at the login screen. So I guess in my case it wouldn't be particularly useful. And bare in mind that if MS didn't bloat windows Vista so bad it wouldn't have taken five minutes to boot in the first place, although I'm a bit sceptical about that. Even Vista which is very slow indeed booted faster for me on the systems I've used it on, more like two minutes or so which is still a pretty long time. Further, I'd be a bit nervous about the impact this instant-on feature would have for viruses and other malware, they may get loaded even earlier and some of them are hard enough to kill as it is.
