OK, if anyone can shed a little light on this...

I have over 17 thousand songs in my ITunes library. That is just over 70 gigs. There is absolutely no way what so ever! that my nano's gonna hold all that. So, what I did, was I went into the summary tab of my IPod, and I told it to only sync certain playlists. Then, I went and interacted with the table, and checked only the playlist I created called Transfers. So, now, what I did was if I want something on the IPod, I go to music in the source list, search for what I want, interact with the songs outline, select the tracks, vo+shift+m on them, go add to playlist, then vo space on transfers. Then, next time I sync, it syncs with that playlist, and copies them over. Wail? this is fine, and dandy, except one? little? problem. My issue is this: OK, I have two CD's by Beth Neilsen Chapman. One called Hymns, and another called Sand and Water. I copied both these to the transfers playlist. ok, I then synced, and all went fine. OK, now, here is the problem though. I then went later today, and added a two disc set I have by the Countdown Country Kids. I added that to the transfers playlist, and then did a sync. Well, the issue is, it took for ungodly ever to sync. I know I only have u s b 1.0 on this machine, but even then! God forbid! The only assumption that I can even begin! to speculate, is, do yall suppose that rather than only syncing the newest material in the transfers playlist, which would be that Country Countdown Kids, do you think maybe what it actually did, was to resync the Beth Neilsen Chapman stuff as well? That's fine, but man, for about 40 songs to take at least 10 minutes to transfer, God blessid! I don't wanna think about how long that'll take when I get up in the thousands, which I am sure will easily happen. The only other way I know a doowen this, is go into the summary payne of the IPod, and say sync only checked songs. Then go uncheck all 17 something odd thousand tracks, and go back and only then check the ones I want on the thing. The only issue though there, is what if I am playing something that I don't wanna check to put on the IPod. Well, I go to the songs outline, hit return on the first track I wanna play, well because all tracks in the outline are unchecked, guess what is gonna happen after the currently playing song finishes...

Yup? You? gottit! It's gonna just stop, rather than advancing to the next track. Only way a fixin that's, to recheck those songs, but a corse, if I do that, then they're gonna go to the IPod, which I may not want it to do.

See what I mean? I'm kind a catch 22. Do yall have an idea a something let's try doing?

Chris.
