Hi,
I like trying alternatives, but unfortunately we have to stick to
mainstream stuff for documentation and handbook purposes, as well as
maintenance.
Thanks for listening,

Hi Alex,
Go ahead. I'll be happy if some one finds it useful. Simply burns
is open source, and farely powerful. The interface is streamlined
and intuitive. It's too bad you are limitted in what you can install.
I'm a bit of a minimalist. ITunes approach doesn't appeal to me
and I have the versatility that allows me to try alternatives.

Hi,
Ah, you are using Simply Burns. Is this Open Source? See the thing
is that our organization limits the number of applications we can
install on our Macs, so my student needs to use ITunes. All in all,
I like your guide though. May I post it on my site?
Thanks for listening,

Hi Alex, I'm not really sure what you mean by burning directly
from a track. Here's my 9 step guide. If that doesn't clear it
up, let me know and I'll try to be more help.
1, open simply burns from your dock or applications folder.
2, you are in a dialog that asks what type of cd you would like to
make. Tab to audio and press space bar.
3, VO to add and press space bar.
4, You are in the open file dialog. Browse to the files you want
to add and press enter on them. I wanted to do an album I bought
from emusic, so I highlighted all the songs and hit enter to have
them added to my layout. If your songs are in different folders,
just repeet the process of vo space on the add button and then
browsing to each file and pressing enter on it.
5, if you want to check how much time you have on your cd, vo left
from the add button and you will hear the total run time. Usually
it needs to be less than 80 minutes.
6, Press command B to burn.
7, Vo to the speed and press space on it to choose the burn speed
you want from the menu.
8, vo to burn and press vo space on it.
9, when the disc is done a dialog box will appear with mount and
eject buttons. VO to the eject button and press vo space on it
and your cd is ready for listening in a regular cd player.

Hi Alex, The steps are broken down pretty well and the writing
is clear. I think I could follow it no problem, but I got it
neetly into 9 steps in simply burns. That's mostly because you
can dispense with all the playlisting stuff. It's a good
guide. Let me know if you're interested in mine and I'll send
it off to you.

Hi,
Let me know what you think of this guide I put together for one
of my very close students.
We will focus here on burning an audio CD using ITunes.
Suppose we have aMP3 file with the name "Sample.mp3". We want
to burn it onto a CD to listen to on a CD Player.
1. Open "Sample.mp3" with ITunes. On a new Mac this is probably
the default application specified to open MP3 files.
2. Press "CMD" + "N" to create a new playlist. If you already
have a playlist that you want to burn, you can skip this and
the next steps.
3. Give the playlist a name. I will call it "SampleList". Then
press "Return".
4. Tab to the sources table and interact with it using "VO" +
"SHFT" + "Down Arrow".
5. "VO" + "Up/Down Arrow" until you get to the Music library
playlist. This is usually the first playlist in the list.
6. Tab once and type the name of the MP3 file you want to burn.
In this case I am going to type "Sample".
7. Tab again to the songs list. You may have more than one
result. Interact with the table and "VO" + "Up/Down Arrow"
until you find the song you want.
8. "VO" + "SHFT" + "M" to open the contextual menu.
9. "VO" + "Down Arrow" until you hear "Add to Playlist". Then
"VO" + "Right Arrow". From the list that then appears, you can
"VO" + "Up/Down Arrow" until you find the playlist to which you
want to add the song for burning, and "VO" + "Space" on it.
10. Shift Tab twice and follow steps 6-9 again for any more
songs you wish to add to the playlist we are going to burn.
11. "SHFT" + "Tab" again twice until you hear the Sorces Table.
12. Insert a blank CD. A message may appear asking you what to
do with the disk. Tab to ignore and press "VO" + "Space" on
"Ignore".
13. Now, interact with the sorces table in ITunes and "VO" +
"Up/Down Arrow" until you find the playlist you wish to burn.
In this case I will locate the "SampleList" playlist I created
earlier.
14. No open the contextual menu again and "VO" + "Up/Down
Arrow" until you find the option "Burn Playlist to Disk". "VO"
+ "Space" on this and a dialog will appear.
15. Now "VO" + "Right Arrow" until you hear "Audio CD Radio
Button". If it says selected then don't worry. If not, "VO" +
"Space" on it to select it.
16. You can now set the "Gap Between songs" and many other
features of the burning utility using standard navigational
commands.
17. Now "VO" + "Right Arrow" until you hear "Burn" and press
"VO" + "Space".
18. Let ITunes do its stuff. It may say "Busy", but not to worry.
19. When ITunes completes the burning, you will hear a sound
indicating that ITunes has finished burning the CD.
20. Now Eject the CD from the drive using the standard "Eject"
Key, usually located at the top right hand corner of Macbbooks
and Macbook pros, as well as on the top right hand corner of
the old Apple keyboards. You can also accomplish this by
pressing "CMD" + "E" when the disk is selected in Finder or in
the ITunes Sources Table.
21. Enjoy your newly burned CD in any standard CD Player, as
well as in your Mac.
