Also, there is a free version of WavePad from NCH SwiftSounds. I don't have the link handy, and the free ver is a bit difficult to locate in my exp, but I'll search this out again and send the link along when I have it.

For now though, Google was my friend originally locating this, so it can be yours too!

Smiles,

Cara :)

I've mentioned this a few times in the past but Audio Recorder is a very simple and accessible audio recorder.

You can select either the line in or mic in and there is a checkbox to monitor the input through your speaker or headphones if plugged in. With some add ons it can record directly to mp3 but I usually just do AIFF and compress later in iTunes. Only snag is the initial installation pops a license confirmation which has an unlabelled OK button. After that VO works well with it.

Hi again,

Sorry for being so persistent, but I'm just wondering, is this something a sighted person has to do, or is there a Voiceover or Amadeus setting I can change? When I hit Record, Voiceover stops responding, instead just saying "Busy" whenever I do anything. After a while, some dialog pops up, but the delay between hitting a VO command and it responding can be as much as literally minutes. As you can imagine, I'm completely unable to use VO during this time, so can't check the checkbox you talk about. Does a sighted person have to do this? Once done, does it stick forever and ever, never to default back to off unless I have to reinstall or something even more drastic?
Thanks again.

Hi,

Are you saying there's no way to monitor the input while recording in Amadeus? If so, are there programs where you can? Surely there's a way on the Mac to monitor what you're recording!

Hi again,

When I hit Record, it starts recording, then Voiceover just says Busy, Busy, Busy, Busy, no matter what I try to do, until I hit Enter to stop. Is the checkbox accessible outside of doing an actual recording?

Hi,

I'm working on a project recording a bunch of old cassettes. I was intending to use Amadeus Pro to do this, but can't figure out how to monitor what's being recorded. I need to adjust my input volume, but can't do that very well if I can't monitor what's coming in. I have a Mac Mini with OsX 10.5. If Amadeus won't do what I want, does anyone know of a simple, no bells and whistles, preferably free, sound recorder program I can use that will?
Thanks.
Jayson
