chris do the following:
1, hijack system audio
2, hijack your input source
3, highlight system audio
4. hit record (note system audio must be highlihgted in the source
list in order to get both when you "hit record")

OK, this is kind of odd. Has anyone noticed, that unless you plug
an actual microphone into the mike jack of the logicboard on your
Mac, you cannot! record both system audio as well as the mike? My
quick silver doesn't have a mike jack. Trust me, I had someone
sighted look. It doesn't. bottom line. So, I'm having to use a
USB mike, which I have ran through the USB port of my keyboard since
on the tower, both my USB ports are used up. That doesn't seem to
pose a problem though. I made sure that in system prefs the default
input was my logitech u s b headset, and it was. I also made sure
it was turned up, and it was. When I hijack it I am able to hear
myself through the headset absolutely flawlessly so I know that the
mike got hijacked correctly.
I just can't get it to record both system audio and the default
input at the same time. I tried creating a brand new session and
instead of setting it up as default input, I literally set it for
the u s b headset. I could then high jack it and record my mike
just fine, or I could hi jack my system audio and record it just
fine, but I couldn't get them both. I did! try plugging the u s b
headset straight into the tower's u s b port with no luck. I also
did make sure I highjacked system audio, then the mike, then went
back to system audio to record. I had this exact same issue with my
other power Mac G4 running Tiger. The only difference was, with the
older Mac, I fixed the problem, as that system has an onboard 8th
inch mike jack. No pre-amp in it, but that's ok, the mike I used had
one. So, with that system it worked perfectly, but any u s b mike/
head set, forget it. Again, I can get one or the other, but not
both. I found this incredibly bazaar, and wondered if anyone has
seen this, and if so, do you know another app that'll let me record
speech and also my mike at the same time? I really wanna make some
demonstrations for a few people, but I kind a like, can't? if I
can't get this resolved. That's the main reason I bought hijack
too, so wow. What a waiste a $60 if I now can't use it for that. O
sure, for other recording things like Skype, etc. it works
wonderfully, but again, that wasn't the soul purpose why I got the
thing.
This is really strange, and frankly, I'd really love knowing if any
yall can reproduce this problem, and if so, if you find a work
around without using the onboard mike jack on the logic board, or
the onboard mike on the laptop or whatever, I'd be real interested
with u s b interface how in the bloody heck you got both to work.
Chris.
