Fwow! That's monstrous!
I don't read news postings. Mostly I use unison for binaries. For
binaries, unison is the very best system I have ever used. I used
agent and the power utilities on the windows side. I found the power
utilities quite good and agent rather expensive and clunky. Unison
though, it will download whole threads of binary postings at the push
of a button and they will automaticly come down in nice little folder
structures. It's a beautiful thing to see 25 gb of binaries pour in
at a meg per second on my cable connection, grins.
I'm sorry it didn't work out for you, but if there's anything more I
can do to help just let me know.
Best,
Erik

Eric, I ended up using outlook express and trust me that causes me
great pain. I can't figure out how to get Unison to cope with the
html codeing in the messages. I guess if I could resolve that, I'd
be in business. COnsidering I just dropped $39 for Fusion and
luckily I have a free copy of Xp Pro, I at least wouldn't have to
spend $25 for Unison as well. What a bummer though, I wish someone
could get a mail client like Apple Mail to handle news groups. I am
not sure I'm totally in love with how Unison does it, but until I
find something like Mail, I guess I'll suffer with outcrook express.
tnx

Erm, well they are different protocols I guess.
I don't really know much about rss feeds and how they work, but I
suspect in application there is very little difference. News
groups are a time honoured tradician though, and the method of data
collection and retention they use is a bit different from rss feeds.

Hi.
What's the differences between rss feeds and newsgroups? I thought
it was the same?

Eric, I might be a bit ignorant here, but I assumed by providing
my e-mail address and the server settings I would somehow
automatically be joined. I guess I see what your saying, but at
the same time I shouldn't be able to see the groups, correct?
Maybe I'm missing something here and any light you can shed on
this would be appreciated. This shouldn't be so difficult.

Hi Scott,
You have to subscribe to the group you want and download it's
headers before unison will show you the messages. There ott to
be a way to bookmark favourite groups too, but I haven't really
gotten that to work too well yet.

Folks,
I grabbed a copy of Unison as it seems to be the only program
that will do what I want., but I can't quite get there all the
way. Seems I can see the list of groups for the most part, but
no messages within the groups. I tried arrowing to the right
and just get a blank area. ANy thoughts?
tnx
