Hi,

Will asked:
hi will flac files play on an i pod at all?
thanks for any help
will

No, if you want to play files in uncompressed format on an iPod convert to Apple Lossless format. You'll be reducing the number of songs you can put on your iPod -- at a rough guess by a factor of four.

Check the iPod Nano 4G User Guide for the information on supported formats:

The following audio file formats are supported by iPod nano. These include formats for
audiobooks and podcasting:

• AAC (M4A, M4B, M4P, up to 320 Kbps)
• Apple Lossless (a high-quality compressed format)
• MP3 (up to 320 Kbps)
• MP3 Variable Bit Rate (VBR)
• WAV
• AA (audible.com spoken word, formats 2, 3, and 4)
• AIFF

To add flac files to iTunes check out Fluke:

Note: although flac files added to iTunes with Fluke can be played in iTunes locally on your computer you won't be able to play these remotely, for example, by using an AirPort Express to stream the music to remote speakers. There are other solutions for getting flac files to play in iTunes, but they don't consistently preserve tagging information.

Cheers,

Esther
