Hi. Just a comment on alternate utilities for expanding .rar files.
Stuffit Expander is free and handles .rar expansion well as Jacob
says. The only annoyance is that Smith-Micro, the group that acquired
Stuffit from Allume last year, sends lots of spam when you provide an
email in order to get to their free download. I suggest getting the
last version of the free Stuffit Expander from the Allume ftp site at:
ftp://ftp.allume.com/pub/pub/mac/StuffIt/For_MacOS_10.4-10.5/stuffit_exp_1201_install.dmg
You can avoid the spam and there's an option to update to a later
version when you run this.
Alternatively, try the Unarchiver (current version 1.6.1), which also
handles a range of other compressed file formats that nicely
complement the ones handled by Mac's built-in archiver unpacker
program. The Unarchiver is available from:
http://wakaba.c3.cx/s/apps/unarchiver.html
Both these products support Tiger and Leopard and run on both PPC and
Intel platforms.
