Jane, unless you'd like to do millisecond accurate edits, Audacity can be your friend. -And, Google, in this case, is also your friend.

Do make sure to download the latest ver, as the previous ver (in my exp) doesn't seem to work well, if at all, with VO. Once you have it, the next step would be to look at the list of Jaws (yes I said Jaws lol!) keystrokes which you can find on:
