I also have been toying with the idea of getting one or the other and
I would highly recommend adding an additional 2Gb of ram so you'll
have 4Gb total. The processors are the same, the only difference is
the Pro has two graphics cards which will give you a bump in speed
since the ram on the graphics card is used where the Macbook shares
the ram with the system, thus shared memory. Of course with 4Gb that
won't be as much of an issue. You can get a slightly faster processor
in the Pro at 2.53 or 2.8Ghz if I recall correctly and the Macbook
only comes with a 2.4Ghz processor as it's top-end. I don't know if
there is a really big difference in terms of the speed when you factor
in the .13Ghz speed increase or the separate graphics card. Someone
who is more in tune with the hardware might answer that. I understand
the differences to a point, but not having run my apps on either
machine, just my iMac, it's hard to say how things will move. I hope
that helped some, but probably not. :)

The new macbook will do fine. You don't need a macbook pro. If I
didn't
need windows for my job, I wouldn't be using it because I can scan

some web
sites. I can't get the Mac to see my victor reader stream but I can
use a
card reader so that's not a big issue.

Subject: Help me decide - macbook or macbook pro
Hey girls and guys
Hope you are all doing well. I have a bit of a situation and I
wouldn't mind
some thoughts if you have the time.
I am moving onto campus for uni next year, meaning my imac is
staying at
home, and my laptop is going to uni. The only thing is my laptop is
a PC and
I can not live without a mac (can you say material girl?). I really
only use
the PC for Jaws and zoomtext when voiceover and the mac can't do
something I
need (like OCR - i hate the software you can get for OCR on a mac)
and a few
other things. So I am on my mac the majority of the time.
The thing is I don't like living without either of the operating
systems, so
I thought, why not upgrade to a new macbook and do the bootcamp thing.
I am wondering - would the low end macbook model be able to cope with
widnows and potentially run zoomtext and JAWS at the same time, plus
any
other applications I should need at the same time? (I mean the low end
aluminium one, not the white one by the way). Or should I just get
the top
end one?
I'm kind of thinking about a macbook pro. It has the potential to
cope, as
well as last forever if I need it to, but gosh its a big wod of money.
Thoughts anyone?
