Hi Jacob,

I don't think you're doing anything wrong. I find this incredibly annoying, and just another reason that I prefer not to use Adobe reader's text to speech to read documents. I read through several options for setting up the accessibility features under Adobe Reader 9, and also ran the updater for the latest version. Not only can I not set the speech rate to a higher value, I also can't seem to change the voice now. Let us know if you make any progress with this.

Cheers,

Esther

P.S. I assume you're using Adobe reader because you have to -- that the PDF files are protected or you need some feature that only works under Adobe reader.

Hi Everyone
Does anyone know how to get Adobe reader to speak at a faster rate? I've confirmed that my speech settings in system prefs are correct, but no matter what I do in Adobe reader, even if I override the system prefs defaults and set the speech rate to a higher value, it doesn't seem to actually do anything. Pitch and volume work, but rate just won't. Am I doing something wrong here?
