This is just a heads up for list readers who access the iTunes Store
in the UK, France, or Germany that these stores will be running a
special "12 days of Christmas" promotion featuring special free
downloadable content each day from December 26 through January 6.

This promotion is specifically for those stores, and is NOT a general
iTunes offering available to the U.S., Canada, Australia, etc. The
Wired article states that these stores are run by a separate group.
It's also been speculated that this is also a way to introduce users
to new content such as the addition of DRM-free music from major music
labels in France, and to popularize additions such as movies and TV
shows made to the UK store over the last year. In Germany, the first
Apple Store just opened in Munich about a week ago. The Wired article
