Hi Stacey,
Currently, there are some issues with connecting a Mac directly
with the Stream. From experience, sometimes, it is seen by the Mac,
but in most instances, it is not. However, this is easily dealt with
by use of a card reader. There is a utility developed by a member of
this list, Greg Kearney, called, iStream, that works quite well. I
have transferred content using this utility or directly accessing my
SD card.
As for your question about zipping or unzipping, the Mac can do
this.
