When you plug the thumb drive into the USB port on your Mac it should just pop up as another disk drive on your desktop. Depending on the drive I've had them appear as Untitled and other variations on that theme. You can rename the volume to something more memorable if you like.

i everett,

to find disc info, tab arrow or vo to a disc, press command-I and enjoy the richness and goodness.

To check your computers activity, go to applications/utilities/ activity monitor. I do this by pressing command-shift-a to open the apps folder from anywhere, press u after making sure you are not in the search box, press command-o to open the utilities folder that u takes you to, tab to or press a it should be first in line if you are using icon or column view for activity monitor. There are several child windows in this dialog and you need to use command-accent to move among them or you can use heir shortcuts found under the window menu.

1. CPU performance and memory usage.

2. Disk usage.

3. Properties for a file / folder, including size on disk.
