Ahh. I think I understand now. On the main window of VirtualBox there
are three regions, Toolbar, Unknown and a three-tab pane with Details,
Snapshots and Descriptions. In the Details pane there is a large region
which has all the settings and links to change them. This entire region
comes up as unknown with blank text, so I assumed it was inaccessible.
As it turns out you can reach all the same stuff by clicking settings on
the toolbar. So all my command line stuff really wasn't needed <smile>

where the long number/letter string is the UUID of the virtual
machine you want to change. You can get that by doing
VBoxManage list vms

Poke around at the VBoxManage command as it has a lot of stuff in
theretes
With coreaudio and the ac97 audio controller Jaws seemed to work fine.
