It depends. Some file managers like Window Explorer of at least older versions of Windows (f.e. Win98) "preserve" the readonly attribute the file has on the CD when you copy the file to your hard disc. This is a very stupid behavior, because it mixes up file attributes and device properties, but that's how it is. So it might be necessary to either use smarter tools for copying, remove the write protection after copying manually or open the document in OOo "as template", so that you get a new, untitled dccument you can store anywhere you want. You can't save it to the CD, so why not opening it as "untitled"?
