Well I am only one participant of this project, and certainly
one of the less knowledgeable ones. I also do know very little
about the project's history.

Basically this website is made by a German StarOffice
user group that predates OpenOffice.org by several
years, i.e. it was founded while StarOffice was
still a proprietary program mainly marketed in Germany.

In the newsgroup I wrote abot, there are very old versions
frequently mentioned (3.0[1], even older stuff, that is
really prehistoric for all practical purposes, 80ies-ish).

This wiki mainly acts as a documentation ressource
for this user group, the mentioned newsgroups and
anyone interested. Recently the FAQ of these newsgroups
has been more or less superseded by the wiki content.

"This platform is concerned about the office programs StarOffice
and OpenOffice.org." Or something like it.

Uh, I am only a very minor contributor, but e.g. from
the current discussion here I wrote up a very short text
on the Stylist today (or Styles and Formatting):

http://www.teamstaroffice.de/wiki/moin.cgi/Stylist

It's nothing special. What I like most about the
wiki is that I can use (or abuse ;) it to note down
stuff I would otherwise forget, like e.g. how to
turn off the Start Module:

http://www.teamstaroffice.de/wiki/moin.cgi/StartModulAbschalten

Most likely not interesting to anybody but me, but
at least now it is easier to find for me now. If somebody
else can use it, that is only an added benefit.

[1] StarOffice version 3.0 that is, not OOo 3.0 of course ;)
