I'm frustrated by the same thing. Of course you can change
units in options, but this usually is not what you want.
Typographic points are useful only for expressing line spacing
(leading), type size, Kerning but are useless everywhere else. Nobody
wants to display the width of a A4 paper as 595 points, but
people *do* want to use Garamond 12pt with 14pt leading.
The sane way (to the user) to handle this is to make the
units "sticky" and to display these units, instead of
converting them instantly. Many other apps do it that
way. Nobody knows what 0.173 cm or 0.032" is in pt.
