to reply precisely: you want such a feed (Atom, RSS) *only* if you want your blog to be syndicated or read by aggregators, like Planet, Firefox Live Bookmarks, Mozilla Sage (http://sage.mozdev.org/) or My Yahoo (http://my.yahoo.com/), otherwise your blog will be just fine.
i believe you *want* a feed (no matter of which type), considering your original intention to be syndicated by Planet OOo.
