In a message to the Users mail list,
http://www.openoffice.org/servlets/ReadMsg?list=users&msgNo=84983
Jonathon Coombes advised of his excellent initiative for a knowledge
base system at: http://mindmeld.cybersite.com.au/

To me it would be great if this was incorporated into the help system,
so that people could ask their questions within help in the same way.
But, if they don't find their answer then people can optionally send
their questions to the users mail list. This way information about the
User's operating system and OOo version could be automatically added to
the message.

If the users mailing list was using a system like
http://www.nexus.org.nz as suggested by Graham Lauder in message
http://marketing.openoffice.org/servlets/ReadMsg?list=dev&msgNo=19647
such that people that wanted to continue using a mailing list could do
so, and those that preferred a forum approach could use it as such. This
way the user would get notified when a response to their problem had
been posted without having to get a large number of emails most of which
are irrelevant to their problem.

What do you think?

Thanks, Ian Laurenson
