I know... I didn't mean to suggest that it didn't have DDE capabilities. What I meant was, it would be nice if there was some way to code some kind of 'interpreter' so that any application,
like Quickbooks, that *specifically* looks for *Excel* to dump some
raw data into (it dumps the data then does some basic formatting of
the Spreadsheet to give it headers, footers, etc) could use OOo instead.

The problem here is much bigger: even if you could "convince" Quickbooks
to use Calc instead of Excel it couldn't send the same data and commands
to Calc because the APIs are not compatible.

Hence my use of the word 'interpreter' above. The 'interpreter''s job would be to *translate* the DDE commands.


So, I guess the big question is, is DDE an *unpublished* proprietary 'language'?
