I was thinking of an interface to gpg itself that could be called from
within OOo. GnuPG is not a simple concept to grasp. I was thinking that
the plugin would provide limited functionality to obtain simplicity.

For example, suppose we just want signatures. To sign a document, you just
go to "File > Sign with GPG" and OOo makes a detached signature that you
can send with the file. Notice we're not giving the user many options
here. If they want options, they can use a dedicated GPG front-end.

Other tasks, like key management, can also be simplified.

Cheers,
