Correct, OOo has no separate mail client. You are encouraged to use
whichever one suits your needs best. Many recommend Thunderbird, Mozilla,
or Eudora. Digital signaturs can be used to sign just about anything, not
just e-mail.

My understanding is that digital sigs are usually used to sign email and
AFAIK there is no email component to OpenOffice. Am I wrong about that?
Or are they being used to sign files? (I have never seen x.509 certs
used to sign files before.)
