IMHO the listbox is still needed as it is (for filtering the file list), so it shouldn't be mixed up with additional functionality. My favorite currently is an extension to the "OK" button. An additional Popup menu that can be opened like the popups in toolbars of OOo wouldn't consume additional space and looks very clear.
I think that a fourth droplist could be added below name:, Type: and Version: >> Open with: the options would be "undefined/let OOo decide", "Writer", "Calc", "Impress", "Draw" etc"
The "read-only" checkbox could be moved to the right side, below OH and Cancel buttons, just to save space.
